MISSION:
To bring high achievers with diverse perspectives together to heighten their civic awareness, enhance their organizational effectiveness and become a driving force for positive change in their workplace and the Baltimore County community/region.
VISION:
Baltimore County is acclaimed for being a vibrant, healthy and inclusive community with rich cultural diversity.
I am so grateful to have been nominated for, and accepted to be a part of the Leadership Baltimore County Class of 2024.
This week we commenced the 10 month intensive program with a beautiful 2-day team building retreat encompassing instructional and physical leadership training. I am looking forward to making an intentional investment of time and collaboration to improve Baltimore County and the state of Maryland through civic involvement with my fellow cohort members that represent organizations across the county and the state.
September, 2023
Honored to fulfill one of the civic leadership tasks given to me as a member of the Class of 2024 cohort of Leadership Baltimore County yesterday. I got the esteemed honor to serve my Baltimore County community by participating in a police ride along with an officer for his full shift. Not only was this experience in the rawest form, revealing what our community faces, it also translated the heart of many officers’ care and concern for our community.
It is a pleasure representing Baltimore County Public Schools and our community based nonprofit The Well Community Services, Inc. in the civic leadership program. Baltimore County Police Department’s desire to collaborate with individuals such as myself to bring about transformation is appreciated! It was even more enlightening to learn that this officer was the nephew of my former colleague of whom I worked with in Northeastern School District in York, PA. It was indeed a divine appointment. Shout out to my LBC classmate, Captain W.B. for arranging the day!
Needless to say, my dissertation topic has EVOLVED after this experience! Not only so, but Pastor and I did lots a vision casting for strategic community transformation efforts last evening! Change is HERE!
November 2023
It was an honor to spend my morning representing Baltimore County Public Schools and The Well Community Services, Inc.
Building community, giving, and working side by side with my fellow cohort members of the Leadership Baltimore County Class of 24 was rewarding! Our day of service took place at Adamah - Pearlstone turning over beds in a greenhouse that provides food to neighbors in need and making welcome bags for people transitioning into housing or home bound. It was a beautiful experience of connecting, giving and growing. Many thanks to Adamah for hosting the day, to Baltimore Gift Economy for sharing how they partnered with Adamah to share food in their neighborhood, The Network for distributing the welcome bags and class member Eve W. for help planning the day.
December 2023
I was honored to represent Baltimore County Public Schools and The Well Community Services, Inc. as I joined my LBC class of 2024 cohort in our Economic Development Retreat Day this past Wednesday. It was held at what used to be the historic grounds of Bethlehem Steel. Now amazingly redeveloped as a 3,300 acre multimodal logistics and industrial center in Frederick, Maryland, known as Tradepoint Atlantic.
I participated in collaborative discussions and activities on how to foster a growing economy to build a better tomorrow; being proactive instead of reactive with workforce development and sustainability.
Some of the influential objectives accomplished were understanding economic development and how it is leveraged by municipalities for communities' growth and development, and collaboration on how sustainable economic development such as Brownfields can increase workforce development.Shout out to classmate RDM Nick S. and his team for a wonderful agenda and retreat planning. What an amazing day of transformative leadership!
Hubby and I attended the Annual Toy Drive with my class of 2024 cohort and alumni of Leadership Baltimore County last evening. We participated in donating toys to gift to children placed Baltimore County Department of Social Services.
What an amazing time of giving and networking in our community! It was an honor representing Well Community Services, Inc. and Baltimore County Public Schools!

Shadowing and ER Nurse at LifeBridge!
February 2024
As apart of one of my Leadership Baltimore County class of ‘24 duties, I had the privilege of representing Baltimore County Public Schools and my nonprofit, Well Community Services by shadowing an ER nurse at Lifebridge Health Northwest Hospital after work. It was a unique experience to shadow the charge nurse, Taniya (pronounced Tanya) - what are the odds of shadowing someone with the same name as mine! As an Education and community leader, this experience sparked an immediate urge to collaborate with the ER team at Lifebridge to provide support for school-aged children and teens. I am excited about the potential for significant transformation in the lives of students and families grappling with this pressing issue, through program referrals and emotional and academic support. Another enriching LNC learning opportunity concluded, and I am grateful for the compassionate and skilled individuals aiding those in need medically.
Social Services Retreat with Baltimore County Social Services Deputy Director
Then on last month, I had the honor of taking part in the LBC Class of '24 Social Service Day, engaging in various impactful activities including collaborating with Mark Millspaugh, BCHHS and DSS Deputy Director. This also included volunteering with the Baltimore Hunger Project, practicing data mapping, participating in a privilege walk, dialoguing and conversing with individuals employed through contracts at The Arc Baltimore. A particularly humbling experience was engaging in cane travel practice with Blind Industries and Services of Maryland. What an incredible and enlightening day it was!”
